Experience the Deep Magic of England by joining one of Kingsflame’s immersive villages.
In these unique camps you get the chance to go full in and take on a role. Sharing a medieval bell tent with fellow participants in your distinct township, you will take part in exclusive sessions led by masters of medieval music and warfare.
Each camp will contribute to the High King’s Tournament and take part in the Lighting of the Kingsflame, making a vital contribution to the three day celebration of the foundation of England.
There will be two immersive villages at the Kingsflame Festival: the Knight’s Camp and the Hopper’s Camp.
The Knight’s Camp
Have you ever wanted to be a knight? To compete in a medieval tournament? To be a paragon of virtue and a warrior hard as steel?
Now’s your chance in the Knight’s Camp. Join a team of squires and prepare to compete in the High King’s Tournament. You will be led by expert instructors and seasoned warriors in the art of being a knight. They will teach you how to lead a chivalric life and to design a sigil for your company. You will learn the art of medieval combat, being taught how to wield the sword and shield.
Over the weekend, you will take part in a series of sessions preparing you to compete on the Sunday afternoon. Captained by one of our professional knights, you will participate in the High King’s Tournament in one-on-one duels and team battles. Your scores will be added with the results from your captain’s scores and points from the joust, with the winners being declared ‘Champions of the Kingsflame’.

The Hopper’s Camp
Flowing dresses and thumping boots. Join the revelry at the Hopper’s Camp!
Led by Minstrel Majesty, learn a series of medieval dances, jigs and reels and perform them at the opening of the High King’s Tournament.
Minstrel Majesty are a five piece band who play medieval, Tudor and Elizabethan music using original instruments and period clothing. Having played at the launch of the Game of Thrones DVD, they are masters of the Shawm, Cittern, Hurdy Gurdy, Gothic Harp, Flute a Bec, Pipe & Tabor, Recorders, Gemshorn, Citoli, Bagpipes and percussion.
Supported by a dance instructor knowledgeable in the dances of the Middle Ages, you will learn a variety of steps and whirls. From rambunctious popular folk tunes to the poise of a courtly round, there will be a chance to try different styles and types of medieval dance.
Your camp will work together and, through several sessions over the weekend, rehearse in preparation for a performance at the High King’s Tournament, opening the festivities with colour, rhythm and fun.
