Kingsflame is a three-day festival celebrating England’s stories, traditions, folklore, and cultural heritage. Set within the grounds of Maxstoke Castle in Warwickshire, the festival brings together folk musicians, storytellers, craftspeople, competitors, performers, and visitors to create a living world of shared experience. Across the weekend you can experience competitive jousting, historical martial arts, immersive theatre, storytelling, folk music, traditional crafts, workshops, markets, costume, and the lighting of the Kingsflame Pyre.
Kingsflame is a medieval-inspired cultural festival rooted in England’s history, folklore, traditions, and storytelling heritage. Rather than being a historical reenactment, Kingsflame combines authentic skills and traditions with live performance, music, storytelling, and immersive experiences to create a unique festival environment.
Day Pass: Friday 15:00–23:30, Saturday 10:00–21:30, Sunday 10:00–18:00. Weekend Camping Pass: Friday 15:00–late, Saturday 10:00–late, Sunday 10:00–18:00.
A Day Pass gives access to the festival during public opening hours, including live music, storytelling, jousting, historical martial arts, immersive theatre, crafts and workshops, the costume competition, markets, and public ceremonies and performances.
A Weekend Camping Pass includes full festival access plus overnight camping. After the public programme ends, camping guests can enjoy the evening atmosphere with fireside storytelling, music, and informal gatherings across the festival villages.
Yes. Weekend Camping Pass holders can stay on-site throughout the festival weekend, with a choice of Quiet Camping, Family Camping, or one of the immersive Festival Villages.
No. Dressing up is encouraged, but never required. Many visitors choose medieval or historically inspired clothing, but if you don’t have a costume, clothing inspired by the English countryside — linen, wool, cotton, knitwear, boots, cloaks — fits naturally into the festival setting. Festival traders also offer clothing, accessories, and handcrafted items over the weekend.
Yes. The Festival Square hosts a selection of food and drink vendors throughout the weekend, including meals, snacks, refreshments, coffee, and locally produced drinks. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available from licensed vendors, though alcohol may only be consumed within designated permitted areas. Outside food and drink are not permitted within the festival grounds.
Kingsflame takes place at Maxstoke Castle Grounds, Maxstoke Lane, Coleshill, Warwickshire B46 2RD — approximately 25 minutes from Birmingham city centre and easily accessible from the M6. Free parking is available on site. The nearest railway station is Coleshill Parkway, around three miles away, with regular trains from Birmingham and the wider West Midlands rail network; taxis and ride-hailing services run from the station.
Yes. Visitors arriving by car must purchase a parking pass in advance. Parking passes help us manage vehicle numbers, plan traffic flow, and cover the costs of operating festival parking and stewarding.

Kingsflame is a rain-or-shine event. Please prepare for outdoor conditions and bring suitable clothing and footwear.
No real weapons are permitted on site. Further guidance regarding costume accessories and replica items will be published before the festival.
Yes. Kingsflame is designed as a family-friendly festival during the daytime, with performances, storytelling, crafts, workshops, competitions, and activities throughout the festival grounds. Some evening activities available to Weekend Camping Pass holders may include louder music and later gatherings. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
Festival Villages are limited-capacity immersive experiences available as an additional booking for Weekend Camping Pass holders, each offering a different way of entering the world of Kingsflame. Current villages include Storytelling Village, focused on myth, folklore, and the traditions of storytelling; Knights Quest Camp, a guided experience built around challenge, skill, and progression; and Outlaws Camp, a creative space for improvisation, roleplay, and immersive theatre.
Yes. Visitors with a valid wristband can leave and re-enter the festival during their ticketed access period.
We recommend bringing comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, a reusable water bottle, sun protection where appropriate, and camping equipment if you’re staying overnight.
