Bearan Crafts are bringing a historical furrier display exploring the use and importance of fur throughout history, from the Dark Ages to modern times. Using a collection of antique, inherited, and reclaimed furs, including a 100-year-old fox pelt, they offer an interactive, touch-and-feel educational experience.
Much of the collection was inherited, which inspired Bearan to research their individual pelts, understand their origins, and discover their historical uses. They now share this knowledge with visitors, exploring the role of fur in everyday life, its continued practical use in historical re-enactment, the ecological impact of the fur trade in Britain, and how we can help protect our native wildlife today.
