Storyteller and folklorist Terrie Howey-Moore, known as Red Phoenix, brings traditional tales to life through the ancient art of oral storytelling, drawing on folklore, history, and more than two decades of storytelling experience.
Terrie Howey-Moore, known as Red Phoenix, is a storyteller, folklorist, writer, and heritage specialist with more than two decades of professional storytelling experience. Specialising in traditional oral storytelling, she tells stories from memory, creating performances in which teller and audience share in bringing each tale to life.
Her repertoire draws on English folklore, traditional folk tales, historical sources, and legends, alongside original stories inspired by her extensive research. She is the author of Buckinghamshire Folk Tales and holds a PhD in storytelling, with research exploring storytelling as intangible cultural heritage and its connection to people, place, and community.
A Winston Churchill Fellow, Terrie has travelled internationally to study storytelling traditions and has performed and taught across the UK and beyond. At Kingsflame, Red Phoenix invites audiences into the living world of traditional storytelling, where old tales are not simply preserved, but retold, reshaped, and brought alive each time they are shared.
